Data Protection Principles

Acquisition, processing and use of personal data by the VBL (Versorgungsanstalt des Bundes und der Länder) is carried out considering data protection regulations, particularly the TMG (Telemediengesetz) and the BDSG (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz). In doing so the VBL acts on the principle of minimal use of personal data. The employees of the VBL are sworn to secrecy. It should be pointed out that input of personal data is voluntary.

Websites

You can surf all public English VBL web-sites anonymously.

On visiting a VBL web-page, the data for this action will be stored on a log file. This data cannot be traced to a particular person by the VBL. Therefore the VBL cannot ascertain which user has accessed which page and content. Basically the following data is stored: client’s IP-address, operating system, browser, time of access, visited pages, access error. The data stored is exclusively used for data security and customized development of the websites. It will not be transferred to third parties, neither for commercial nor non-commercial purposes.

For technical reasons cookies may be used to control the connection. In that case the cookies will be deleted when leaving the website. There is no further use or reporting of cookies.

Information service and advice regarding using E-mail

If you want to use our information service and send us an E-mail, your personal data (E-mail address) will automatically be transferred according to the configuration of your E-mail program. The VBL uses your E-mail address as well as further personal data, which is contained in the E-mail, exclusively for the information service. It will not be transferred to third parties.

Please note that currently the confidentiality of information on the Internet is not guaranteed without further measures (e.g. encoding) when using E-mail. The content which is sent with an E-mail that is not encoded should be no more confidential than the content of a post card. Messages with valuable content should be sent by post to protect them and avoid a third party gaining access to their content.
